The News
At NVIDIA GTC 2025, Pure Storage announced a new FlashStack Cisco Validated Design (CVD) developed in partnership with Cisco Systems and validated with NVIDIA technology. The joint solution combines Pure Storage FlashBlade//S for data management, Cisco UCS C845a servers for GPU-accelerated compute, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software for scalable AI deployment. Together, these components form a pre-engineered system designed to simplify enterprise implementation of AI workloads including model training, fine-tuning, and inference.
The companies state that the solution goes beyond hardware validation to help enterprises minimize risk, enhance performance, and transform data into actionable insights. General availability is planned for Q1 2026, supported by a partner rollout and customer reference designs now in development. Read the Pure Storage press release from GTC.
Analyst Take
The FlashStack AI-factory announcement represents increased alignment between Pure Storage and Cisco to help enterprises connect infrastructure modernization with business objectives. From our perspective, this is a natural extension of each company’s strengths, building on a partnership that dates back to 2014. Cisco brings network and server leadership and Pure provides an efficient, low-latency data platform. Together with NVIDIA’s dominance in accelerated computing, they are delivering a reference blueprint for enterprises looking to operationalize AI inside the data center while maintaining control, performance, and governance.
The new FlashStack CVD gives customers a consistent, pre-engineered configuration that accelerates time to production and reduces the integration burden that has hampered many enterprise AI initiatives. In our view, this is a smart move for Pure. It extends the brand into orchestration territory while staying true to its core tenet of simplicity.
Performance remains a defining challenge for modern AI workloads such as large language models (LLMs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). These systems depend on continuous, high-speed access to massive volumes of both structured and unstructured data. This is often dispersed across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. As enterprises push beyond experimentation, the ability to feed models efficiently becomes critical to success.
The new offering unifies compute, storage, and networking within a single, optimized architecture. By collapsing data silos and reducing latency between model training, fine-tuning, and inference stages, the design enables LLMs and RAG-powered assistants to move from proof-of-concept to full production, maintaining consistent performance and governance across environments.
For enterprise IT leaders, this level of integration is not just about throughput, it’s about risk reduction and agility. Simplifying the data pipeline allows organizations to focus on model quality, insight generation, and business alignment, rather than managing fragmented infrastructure or data-readiness bottlenecks. In our view, as AI architectures evolve, these converged systems will increasingly define how enterprises turn data velocity into competitive advantage.
What Was Announced
Pure Storage and Cisco jointly developed a new Cisco Validated Design (CVD) for FlashStack that incorporates NVIDIA accelerated computing and software. The design combines compute, networking, and storage in a unified system tuned for AI workloads including model training, fine-tuning, and inferencing.
At the storage layer, the solution features Pure Storage FlashBlade//S, the company’s unified file and object platform engineered for enterprise-scale data management. FlashBlade//S delivers consistent performance for large, unstructured datasets and supports modular expansion under Pure’s Evergreen architecture.
Compute performance is delivered by Cisco UCS C845a servers configured with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 GPUs, providing accelerated compute optimized for intensive AI and analytics workloads. The software layer is anchored by NVIDIA AI Enterprise, a production-grade, end-to-end software stack that simplifies the development and deployment of AI applications across hybrid environments.
Built on the foundation of Pure’s Evergreen subscription model and Cisco’s UCS X-Series architecture, this offers a predictable, lifecycle-managed system that can evolve with future AI requirements. By integrating NVIDIA’s frameworks, GPUs, and enterprise software, the companies aim to provide a consistent, factory-built path from pilot to production AI systems.
The solution is targeted at large enterprises and public-sector organizations with on-premises or hybrid AI environments where control over data, performance consistency, and energy efficiency are paramount. Early adoption should occur in regulated industries where privacy requirements or latency sensitivity keep data close to its point of creation.
Looking Ahead
By combining Pure’s data platform and Cisco’s compute and networking expertise, the companies are offering both turnkey deployment and best-of-breed integration options, reflecting an understanding of how IT teams balance innovation with governance and cost.
Pure’s emphasis on simplicity and efficiency complements Cisco’s enterprise strength in scale, security, and network operations. Together, they are bridging traditional IT priorities of reliability, availability, and lifecycle management with AI infrastructure needs for high-throughput data access and accelerated computing. We believe this combination gives enterprises a practical way to advance AI initiatives while mitigating complexity and risk.
In our view, Pure’s recent ecosystem partnerships with Nutanix, Varonis, and NVIDIA reinforce the company’s efforts to build a unified data foundation engineered with composable, secure, and AI-ready infrastructure. Cisco’s participation ensures these joint architectures are supportable and familiar to enterprise teams that depend on validated designs.
As the AI-factory model takes hold, we expect this collaboration to grow through co-engineering and joint customer engagement. If Pure and Cisco sustain this momentum, they will be well-positioned to help enterprises align AI infrastructure investments with demonstrable business outcomes, setting a benchmark for how established vendors can deliver AI-aligned infrastructure that balances performance, governance, and resilience.
Based on the FlashStack CVD for AI, we discern that Pure Storage, Cisco, and their partners can improve their competitiveness and ecosystem influence over the next 12 months by executing a coordinated Simplicity-at-Scale GTM strategy. Cisco and Pure Storage must focus their joint sales motions on demonstrating how the pre-engineered system minimizes risk and complexity for enterprise AI adoption, targeting the common pain points of fragmented infrastructure and skills gaps.
Partners should be rapidly trained and certified on the specific CVD, treating it as a turnkey solution rather than a collection of parts to become the trusted advisors who deliver the full power of AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference with predictable performance. Influencing the ecosystem involves leveraging the NVIDIA validation to establish the FlashStack CVD as the de facto blueprint for enterprise AI Factories, actively developing and publicizing the planned customer reference designs and driving a rapid, coordinated rollout to convert the existing base of FlashStack customers into AI success stories ahead of the Q1 2026 general availability. In our opinion, execution in these areas will determine how effectively Pure, Cisco, and NVIDIA translate their joint validation into sustained market leadership.
